A recent announcement made by the National Museum of Hip Hop (NMoH) introduced the first annual “Hall of Hip Hop Awards.” The televised ceremony will honor and pay tribute to what the NMoH refers to as the four elements of hip hop: rap, b-boying, graffiti, and DJing. Other key players in the hip hop culture will be honored as well, including producers, mixers, engineers, fashion designers, and film makers. Craig Wilson, President of the NMoH, had this to say: “The Hall of Hip-Hop will exist as the first true beacon of homage for those who created and pioneered this great culture we call hip-hop; a testament to the prominence of the many who helped spawn this phenomenon but have been long since forgotten via contemporary commercial/corporate interests.”
