Are you an Entrepreneur or do you own a Job?

The question that every entrepreneur should ask themselves is: Do I own a company…or a job?  This is a question you should ask, especially in the beginning of building your business.  Many people mistake incorporating a job for building a business, and there is a fundamental difference between the two.  What I mean is that just because you filed your business entity as a LLC, C Corp or S Corp does not mean that you have started a company.

The 5 Laws of a Great Team

Recently, during a video shoot for an episode of a Business Unusual news show called Power Moves, we highlighted an entrepreneur’s journey to success and the lessons they learned along the way.  The interview was with special guest Cedric Muhammad, and I received a surprising compliment from him while recording.  The members of the BU team in attendance that day were Thomas “Bigs” Moriera, Axum Gaines, Amoi Battice, Tau Battice, Jennifer Spivak, Bobbi Jo Kitchen and myself.  Cedric said to us that he was impressed with the level of professionalism we displayed and that he could see and feel the level of honor and respect we had for one another.  As I reflect on that day, I realize more than ever the importance of team as in pertains to a company’s brand as well as its bottom line.
